Sincona sale 11, lot 791

This specimen was lot 791 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$310 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Brandenburg-Preussen, Königreich Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Doppelter Vereinstaler 1840, Berlin. Winz. Rdf. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840. Double thaler of 1840, Berlin mint. Extremely fine.)"

This type was issued 1839-40 with a high enough mintage to make it fairly common.
