This specimen was lot 1790 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BAYERN, KONIGREICH, Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Dukat 1840. GOLD. Nur 5.000 Exemplare geprägt. Vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, ducat of 1840. Only 5,000 examples struck, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1840-48. This bust by Voigt was used on nearly all Bavarian coinage of the 1840's.
