Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 72148

This specimen was lot 72148 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $314.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1846/5/4-Go PM. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-64. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. Half reales are recorded from Guanajuato for 1826-68. Assayer PM served 1842-48. The SCWC lists a regular date and 1846/5 and 1846/4 overdates but not this 1846/5/4.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.
