This specimen was lot 73086 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $512.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1846/5-Go PM. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-62. Finest and only Mint State of three coins graded by NGC. Soft on eagle. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. Two reales were struck at Guanajuato 1825-63 and 1867-68 with assayer PM recorded for 1842-48. Guanajuato and Zacatecas were the two mints which made a serious effort to strike minor coinage in addition to eight reales for export. This overdate is mentioned in the SCWC and awarded a slight premium over the regular date.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.76 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-374.8.
