Mexico 1878-Ga A 10 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 73125

This specimen was lot 73125 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $504. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1878-Ga A. Guadalajara Mint. NGC AG-3." The Guadalajara mint struck this silver ten centavos 1871-74, 1877, 1881-95 and most of the dates are common or fairly common. Assayer A is listed for 1877 only. This seems to be a heretofore unknown date.

Recorded mintage: unknown but presumably very rare.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
