Mexico 1887-Zs Z 50 centavos

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Zacatecas is priced in the SCWC at about double the common date. The second specimen was lot 9232 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Zacatecas. 50 Centavos, 1887-ZsZ. Light toning. NGC Unc Details--Surface Hairlines.” Other mints include Hermosillo, Mexico City, Durango, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Alamos and Potosi.
Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
