Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 55068

This specimen was lot 55068 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Silver 5 Yuan, 1995. Chinese Cultural Series I. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Pagoda of Six Harmonies." In 1995, the regime issued many five yuan NCLT's, including KM 714, 715, 729, 731, 735, 736, 737, 739, 774, 778, 779, 781, 794, 823, 825, 826, 827, 828 (shown here), 866, 867, 868, 869 and KM A781. Most were in silver but at least one was bronze and another gold.

Recorded mintage: 20,000 proofs.

Specification: 22.22 g, 0.900 fine silver, 27.5 mm diameter.
