This specimen was lot 1159 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ENGLAND: Charles I, 1625-1649, AR sixpence, 1643, Civil War issue, Oxford Mint, slightly ragged edge, obverse spot (almost hidden in the gunmetal tone), very well struck, open book mintmark, three Shrewsbury plumes on reverse, VF-EF." During the English Civil War, sixpences were struck at Oxford (shown here), Bristol, Shrewsbury, Aberystwyth, Ashby de la Zouch, Bridgnorth, Exeter, Worcester, etc.

Specification: 0.925 fine silver, 48 grains.
