This specimen was lot 40141 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $161,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Triple Unite, 1642. Oxford Mint. PCGS AU-58. High Grade Oxford Mint Triple Unit Charles I (1625-49). RARE. Narrow bust of Charles I left with raised sword and short olive branch, Oxford plume behind. Declaration on reverse between wavy lines, four pellets at 9 o'clock. Some doubling, primarily on obverse but in a remarkable state of preservation. Nice strike, original surfaces and very attractive."
