This specimen was lot 23281 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Escudo, 1848-CCE. Culiacan Mint. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Sharp around the legends with typical softness in the centers. Very little actual wear is seen." The Culiacan mint struck half escudos 1848, 1853-63, 1866-70 and is generally considered a common mint.

Specification: 1.69 g, .875 fine gold, .049 troy oz AGW.
