This specimen was lot 23265 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Escudo, 1859-DoCP. Durango Mint. PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. Nicely detailed for the grade with orange tone around the edges. A RARE date." The Durango mint produced one escudos 1832-38, 1846, 1850-55, 1859-64. Some dates are fairly common but this is rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, .875 fine gold, .095 troy oz AGW.
