This specimen was lot 55588 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 2/3 Taler, 1751-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). About Uncirculated Details -- Polished. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Includes ticket from Kuenker." George II issued three different gulden in 1751, one with mintmaster initials "IBH". This somewhat scarce "wild man" gulden was struck 1743-60. This is the period of the introduction of the convention thaler, when the gulden slipped from two-thirds to half a thaler.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: Dav-435; KM-286; Welter-2578.
