This specimen was lot 22555 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. 2/3 Taler, 1747-IBH. George II August (1727-60). NGC AU-55. Attractive luster remains in the peripheries with some central softness that is confined to the left portion of the shield. Altogether, an attractive example of the leaping horse type." This type was struck 1744-60 along with KM 286 (wild man, struck 1743-60) and KM 277 (leaping stallion, mintmark CPS, struck 1740-60). While Hanoverian thalers appear occasionally, the gulden are common.
