Hannover 1746-CPS 1/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 3177 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Georg II. 1727-1760. 1/3 Taler 1746 CPS, Clausthal. Ausbeute. Münzmeister Christian Philipp Spangenberg. Vorderseitenlegende mit ....M.BRIT.FR & HIB.... Von grösster Seltenheit. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, George II, 1727-60, third thaler of 1746, Clausthal mint, for the mines. Obverse legend includes George's British titles. Of the highest rarity, Very fine.)"
This third thaler, with St. Andrew/arms, was struck 1740-51. Another third thaler, KM 255 (1746-IBH), with Wild man/arms, is also noted for 1746.
