This specimen was lot 22588 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Calenberg-Hannover. 2 Mariengroschen, 1744-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). PCGS AU-58. A fairly RARE year, this date is unlisted in the SCWC. Handsomely toned and rather well centered, this delightful minor offers some great eye appeal along with an always popular design." This type was struck 1730-60 and is common. The elector also struck KM 271 in 1744 with a different design (monogram obverse/value reverse). One thaler made 36 mariengroschen.
