Hannover 1742-CPS 8 gute groschen
This specimen was lot 692 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €650 (about US$876 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, HERZOGTUM Georg II. 1727-1760. 8 Gute Groschen (1/4 Reichstaler) 1742, Clausthal. Von größter Seltenheit. Min. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg, George II, 1727-60, 8 gute groschen or quarter thaler of 1742, Clausthal mint. Very rare, edge defects, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This denomination was struck 1742 only in two types, with the leaping stallion obverse (shown here) and a bust obverse (KM 284). Neither are expensive in the SCWC.
