This specimen was lot 55587 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 2/3 Taler, 1747-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). About Uncirculated Details -- Scratched. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." George II issued three different gulden in 1747, two with mintmaster initials "IBH". This somewhat scarce "wild man" gulden was struck 1743-60. This is the period of the introduction of the convention thaler, when the gulden slipped from two-thirds to half a thaler.
