Mexico 1879-Go S 10 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Collection, lot 71318

This specimen was lot 71318 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $145. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1879-Go S. Guanajuato Mint. NGC VF-30. Only example in NGC Census. Scarce. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Guanajuato mint struck this type 1869-97 and it is considered a common mint, tho this is a slightly better date compared to the issues of the 1890's. The mint was closed in 1900.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a fairly common date.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
