Stack's Bowers 2025 ANA sale, lot 43403
SB825-43403r.jpg

This specimen was lot 43403 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Demi-Franc (1/2 Franc), Year 13-MA (1804/5). Marseille Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS F-15. Emanating from a SCARCER emission, this wholesome yet heavily circulated specimen stands as a charming representative of a difficult type. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Strand Coins [Ron Prosser] on 27 March 1975 for $109)." This type was struck years 12-14 and the Paris mint product is moderately common. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed.

Recorded mintage: 6,085, a scarce date.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, decorated edge.

Catalog reference: KM-655.10; Gad-395; F.174/21.
