This date was struck at the Guadalupe y Calvo mint in 1850. This mint struck silver and gold coins 1844-52, with one reals recorded for 1844-51. The issues of Guadalupe y Calvo are the third rarest mint after Estado de Mexico and Hermosillo. The first specimen was lot 21188 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1850-GC MP. Guadelupe y Calvo Mint. NGC AU-53. Rather difficult to encounter in better states of preservation, the present specimen offers a handsome steel gray tone with some underlying radiance poking through from beneath. Scarcely circulated or handled, this example should entice the advanced collector of Mexican minors."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, .903 fine silver, .099 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 372.5.
