Nurnberg 1632 ducat Fr-1924
This specimen was lot 4412 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011) where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,128 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Nürnberg, Stadt Gustav II. Adolf, 1611-1632. Schwedische Besatzung. Dukat 1632. Belorbeertes, drapiertes Brustbild nach rechts. Rv. Wappen auf gekrönter, verzierter Wappenkartusche, zu den Seiten der Krone die geteilte Jahreszahl. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (City of Nuremburg, Swedish occupation, ducat of 1632. Obverse: armored, draped bust to right; reverse: crowned arms. very fine to extremely fine)."
This coin, like the related issues of Augsburg and Erfurt, honored the Swedish king, regarded as the savior of Protestantism in Germany.
