This specimen was lot 3765 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €80,000 (about US$103,344 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

MO : REIPUB : - NORIBERG · Drei Wappen über Stadtansicht von Westen, im Abschnitt drei Zeilen Schrift VIVI DA PAX CHRISTI / SERVET NOS TEMP= / ORE TRISTI : (das Chronogramm enthält die Jahreszahl 1631)//FERDINAND : II : D : G : ROM : IMP : SEM : AUG : GER : HU : B : REX · Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Zepter und Schwert in den Fängen, auf der Brust Medaillon mit dem Bild des Kaisers r. umgeben von der Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies, oben Krone. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Prachtexemplar. Min. Randfehler, fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, six ducats of 1631, in the name of Ferdinand II, struck using thaler dies. Obverse: three shields above city view, three line inscription below; reverse: Crowned double headed eagle with sword and scepter in its claws supporting a medallion with a portrait of the emperor, Order of the Golden Fleece around, date in chronogram. Very rare, proof example, a few rim flaws, choice uncirculated.)"

The description states that the portrait of the central medallion is that of emperor Ferdinand II but the bust strongly resembles the head of Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus used on contemporary ducats (Fr-1924). This type is neither photographed nor priced in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 21 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 20,44 g.
