Mexico 1915-M centavo KM-416
The second specimen was part of lot 23011 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $546.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Modern Grouping of 18 High Grade Decimals, 1 Centavo to 1 Peso examples. Many AU and UNC. A lot to be carefully examined." This type was struck 1915 only during the Mexican Revolution while the Zapatistas controlled Mexico City. It is accompanied by a bronze two centavos. It is identical to the regular issue of 1905-49 (KM 415) except for the smaller diameter. Soon after, the Carrancistas recaptured the mint and demonetized this issue, leaving many in possession of a souvenir of the troubled time that could not be spent. The regular issue of 1915 is quite scarce.
Recorded mintage: 179,000.
Specification: bronze, 16 mm diameter.
