This specimen was lot 11425 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $306. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Revolution. Chihuahua. Peso, 1915. NGC MS-63. Army of the North." This coin was issued by the Villistas prior to their campaign to capture Mexico City, which campaign would lead to Villa's defeat and destruction at the hands of the Obregonistas. Paying in silver when others were paying in paper was a powerful recruiting tool.
