Aguascalientes 1915 2 centavos
The first specimen was lot 11424 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $646. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Revolution Aguas Calientes. 2 Centavos, 1915. Square front "2". Reeded edge. EXTREMELY FINE." The second specimen was lot 73136 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. Aguascalientes. 2 Centavos, 1915. NGC MS-64 Brown. Elusive and certain to be demanded in this extremely high grade, with this example standing as the sole finest graded specimen yet certified by NGC. The surfaces are silky brown, with a handsome mocha color. A lovely example that would be nearly impossible to top." This coin was issued by the Villistas and was accompanied by one, five and twenty centavos. Numerous varieties exist; the SCWC mentions square and round front "2's" and reeded and plain edge.
