from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71205

This specimen was lot 71205 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1870-Zs H. Zacatecas Mint. NGC VF Details--Cleaned. Second finest of two examples in the NGC Census. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." Shown is an 1870-Z^S H five centavos, of a type struck 1870-81, 1886-97. This issue from Zacatecas is a somewhat scarce date.

Recorded mintage: 40,000.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, 14 mm diameter, reeded edge.
