Eliasberg lot 3366

This specimen was lot 3366 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $4,830. The catalog description^[1] noted, "1870 PR 8 escudos. Hermosillo mint. Types as above. Warm yellow gold with good lustre and slightly reflective fields. Lightly hairlined in the fields but exceptional for this rare issue. NGC MS-62. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." Long^[2] notes this date as "the least scarce" of this mint but still hard to find, especially this nice.
