Mexico 1864Zs 4 reales rev DSLR.jpg

This four reales is one of a series struck 1830-70 at the Zacatecas mint. This date is common. Assayer VL is recorded for 1859-64. The only other four reales for 1864 is a very rare issue of San Luis Potosí. Doubtless production was disrupted by the chaos of the French intervention of 1862-67.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .392 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 375.9.
