This specimen was lot 1277 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1864-HoPR/FM. PCGS EF-45." The Hermosillo mint struck eight escudos 1863-73; most of the dates are available in well circulated condition but nice specimens are scarce. The Hermosillo mint continued striking eight escudos after the other mints had ceased; the 1873-Ho is the last ever issued of the denomination.
