This specimen was lot 72544 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1864-Zs MO. Zacatecas Mint. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. Featuring some light handling and typical striking weakness, this attractively toned piece is a pleasing representation of the type. From the Sonoran Sunset Collection." This eight reales is one of a series struck 1825-97 at the Zacatecas mint. This date is common. Assayer VL is recorded for 1859-64; assayer MO is also recorded for 1855-60 and 1863-65.
