Mexico 1864-P 10 centavos

from the San Dimas Collection

This specimen is a scarce date of a series struck 1864 only at the Potosi mint. This ten centavos piece replaced the silver one real struck since colonial times. Several transitional designs were issued 1863-70, including this one by the Maximilian regime (note the crown on the eagle's head). It, in turn, was replaced by a ten centavos piece with a redesigned reverse in 1869.

Specification: 2.71 g, 0.903 fine silver, 0.078 troy oz ASW.
