Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1704-HCH ducat Fr-659
This specimen was lot 3732 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 1300 CHF (about US$1,644 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Braunschweig-Lüneburg, Herzogtum Wolfenbüttel. Anton Ulrich 1704-1714. Dukat 1704. Auf den Tod seiner Gemahlin Elisabeth Juliane. Gew. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Anton Ulrich, 1704-14, on the death of his duchess Elizabeth Juliana, a little wavy, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This one year type is rare as are most of the gold issues from this locality. Half, three-quarter, two, three, six and ten ducats also exist.
Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
