Sincona sale 34, lot 4185

This specimen was lot 4185 in Sincona sale 34 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 2,300 CHF (about US$2,730 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Ferdinand II. 1618-1637 Taler 1625. Joachimsthal Münzmeister Gregor Steinmüller. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. Schöne irisierende Tönung. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, thaler of 1625, Joachimsthal mint, mintmaster Gregor Steinmüller. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine, beautiful iridescent toning.)"

This type of 1623-32 is the most common thaler from Joachimsthal of the seventeenth century.
