Künker sale 423, lot 180

This specimen was lot 180 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,266 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Konv.-Taler 1762, Hall. Brustbild r. mit Diadem und umgelegtem Mantel//Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Kopfscheinen, auf der Brust gekröntes mehrfeldiges Wappen (Dalmatien, Ungarn, Spanien, Böhmen, Kroatien / Mailand, Österreich, Burgund, Schlesien / Siebenbürgen, Steiermark, Lothringen, Kärnten, Görz), mit Mittelschild (Tirol). Etwas rauher Schrötling, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, convention thaler of 1762, Hall mint. Obverse: diademed and mantled bust right; reverse: crowned and nimbate double-headed eagle supports the manifold arms of Dalmatia, Hungary, Spain, Bohemia, Croatia, Milan, Austria, Burgundy, Silesia, Transylvania, Styria, Lorraine, Carinthia and Gorizia with the escutcheon of Tyrol. Slightly rough planchet, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

The first years (1751-53) were struck to the standard of 28.82 g, 0.875 fine silver. This type was struck to the convention standard 1754-65 and is somewhat scarce.
