Sincona sale 101, lot 3299

This specimen was lot 3299 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$528 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Taler 1763, Hall. Variante mit kleinem Brustbild. Gutes vorzüglich. Feine Patina. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, About Uncirculated, Nicely toned.)"

The type was struck 1751-65 and is fairly common. The first years (1751-53) were struck to the standard of 28.82 g, 0.875 fine silver. After 1765, when Francis I died, all of Maria Theresia's coinage adopted a veiled bust of the empress.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
