Sincona sale 39, lot 4086

This specimen was lot 4086 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$120 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Franz I. 1745-1765 3 Kreuzer 1762. Hall H-A. FDC. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis I, 1745-65, three kreuzer of 1762, Hall mint. Uncirculated.)"

The three kreuzer was one fortieth of a thaler. Large quantities were minted from 1746 to 1799, when the billon piece was finally converted to copper. Three kreuzer were minted for Francis I 1748-63 from Vienna, Hall (shown here), Prague, Nagybanya, Kremnitz and Graz. This date comes with (KM 2014) and without (KM 2015.1) a cartouche around the denomination.

Recorded mintage: 300,000 (KM 2014 and KM 2015.1 together).
