Steve Album sale 54, lot 757

This specimen was lot 757 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA: Maria Theresa, 1740-1780, AR thaler, 1762, cleaned, light adjustment marks, some luster, XF." This type was struck at the Vienna mint 1754-65 and is common. It is struck to the convention standard. After the death of emperor Francis I in 1765, all portraits of Maria Theresia show her wearing a widow's veil.
