Jean Elsen sale 154, lot 1645

This specimen was lot 1645 in Jean Elsen sale 154 (Brussels, March 2023), where it sold for €140 (about US$181 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SAINT EMPIRE, François Ier (1745-1765), AR demi-Taler, 1762 HA, Hall. D/ B. l., dr. et cuir. à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Très Beau. (Austria, Francis I, 1745-65, silver half thaler of 1762, Hall mint. Obverse: laureate and armored bust to right; reverse: crowned imperial eagle displayed. Very Fine.)"

This half thaler was struck for Francis I 1751-65 at Vienna, Hall (shown here), Kremnitz, Karlsburg and Graz. Similar half thalers were struck with the bust of Maria Theresia.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, 35 mm diameter, this specimen 13,96 g.
