Sincona sale 101, lot 3317

This specimen was lot 3317 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$151 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Joseph II. 1765-1790. 3 Kreuzer 1776 F, Hall. Mit dem Münzmeisterzeichen V.C. - .S. auf dem Revers. Selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Kleine Schrötlingsfehler. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, three kreuzer of 1776, Hall mint, with mintmaster's initials VCS on the reverse. Rare, About Uncirculated, Some small flan flaws.)"

This type was struck 1766-79 at five mints (A, B, C, E, F) including Hall, shown here. Three kreuzer was 1/40 of a convention thaler.

Recorded mintage: 15,000.
