Sincona sale 80, lot 3163

This specimen was lot 3163 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. 7 Kreuzer 1776 CA, Wien. Die letzte Ziffer der Jahreszahl im Stempel umgeschnitten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Austria, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, seven kreuzer of 1776, Vienna mint. The last digit of the date was crudely corrected in the die. Very fine-extremely fine.)"

This type was struck for Maria Theresia 1768-77 and is common altho the overdate is awarded a premium. Seven kreuzer were also struck for Joseph II (KM 2062). One thaler was 120 kreuzer in the eighteenth century.

Specification: 3.24 g, 0.420 fine silver, this specimen 3.21 g.
