Sincona sale 87, lot 2929

This specimen was lot 2929 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$539 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz I. 1745-1765. Taler 1761 HA, Hall. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis I, 1745-65, thaler of 1761, Hall mint. Extremely fine.)"

This thaler was struck at the Hall mint 1751-65. Similar thalers were also struck at Kremnitz (KB), Prague (PR), Vienna (WI) and Karlsburg (CA).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 27.95 g.
