Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74159

This specimen was lot 74159 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Kreuzer, 1761-P. Prague Mint. Maria Theresa. PCGS MS-62 Brown. A pleasing chocolate-brown example featuring glossy fields and a defined strike. VERY SCARCE so fine." This coin is listed twice in the SCWC: as KM 792 under Bohemia and as KM 1993 under Austria, which reveals that this type was struck 1760-65 at many mints (C, G, H, K, NB, P, S, W), of which Prague was one. One convention thaler made 120 kreuzer.
