Stack's Bowers September 2025 ANA sale, lot 43119

This specimen was lot 43119 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Constitution. 15 Sols, Year 4/1792-M. Toulouse Mint. Louis XVI. PCGS MS-65. This stunning and completely riveting Gem radiates with an alluring degree of luster and delightful argent nature, all with some hints of champagne toning sprinkled about. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Claude Silberstein in Paris on 13 March 2003 for $147)." This type was struck 1791-93 at numerous mints but only Paris ("A") and Limoges ("I") are common. Its face value was one-eighth of an écu.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specifications: 5 g, 0.666 fine silver, 23.5 mm diameter.
