Stack's Bowers ANA sale, lot 41355

This specimen was lot 41355 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $528. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Zacatecas. 1/4 Real, 1862. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU-50. A lovely wholesome exemplar of the type, offering glossy antique surfaces without much wear. From the EMO Collection." This specimen is one of a series of brass quarter reales issued 1825-64 by the "free and sovereign" state of Zacatecas.
