Künker sale 263, lot 769

This specimen was lot 769 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$1,938 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Karl I. 1735-1780. Reichstaler 1748, Zellerfeld. Ausbeute der Grube Regenbogen. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, thaler of 1748, Zellerfeld mint, for the Rainbow mine. Attractive, extremely fine with nice patina.)"

This scarce type was minted 1745-46 and 1748. Another thaler was issued for the same mine in 1752 (Dav-2166).
