UBS sale 85, lot 460

This specimen was lot 460 in UBS sale 85 (Zürich, September 2010), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$342 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Württemberg, Grafschaft, 1495 Herzogtum, 1806 Königreich Wilhelm I. 1816-1864. Doppelter Vereinstaler 1843. Kr. Fast vorzüglich." (Kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, double thaler of 1843, nice extremely fine.)

This type is recorded for 1840-43 and 1854-55 and is expensive like most double thalers, despite the substantial mintage.

Recorded mintage: 245,000.

Specification: 37.12 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 37,11 g.

Catalog reference: Kahnt 590, Thun 436, Klein/Raff 89.2, KM 586, Dav-956.
