UBS sale 85, lot 458

This specimen was lot 458 in UBS sale 85 (Zürich, September 2010), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$205 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Württemberg, Grafschaft, 1495 Herzogtum, 1806 Königreich. Wilhelm I. 1816-1864. Kronentaler 1825. Gutes sehr schön." (Kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64. Crown thaler of 1825, Good Very Fine.)

This type was struck 1825-37 and this is the commonest date. Later vereinsthaler from the 1850's are much more available.

Recorded mintage: 226,000.

Specification: 29.49 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 29,40 g.
