Wurttemberg 1826 thaler Dav-954
This specimen was lot 31230 in Heritage sale 3105 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Württemberg. Wilhelm I Taler 1826 MS65 NGC, Stuttgart mint. Yet another exceedingly well-preserved rendition of Württemberg origin and a fine companion to the previous lot, whose MS66+ designation just edges out the present offering in technical standing, but of similar aesthetic ilk. Blanketed in a bold cabinet tone that subdues what would ultimately be boisterous mint flash and remains undoubtedly a very special issue. From the Cape Coral Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1825-33 and is not rare, altho the 1825 is the most common. Altho definitely a thaler, the module does not match either the convention thaler (28.06 g) or the kronenthaler (29.53 g) standard.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 29.49 g, 0.868 fine silver.
