This specimen was lot 71323 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1883-Go B. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-64. Second finest of two graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." This specimen is a fairly common date of a series struck 1869-97 at the Guanajuato mint. This ten centavos piece replaced the silver one real struck since colonial times. Several transitional designs were issued 1863-70, including one by the Maximilian regime, before settling on this type. It, in turn, was replaced by a ten centavos piece with a redesigned reverse in 1898. Assayer B operated 1883-84.
Recorded mintage: unknown but reasonably common.
Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
