The first specimen was lot 391 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 65 euro (about US$103 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1820. México. JJ. 8 reales. Pequeño defecto en anverso. MBC+. (Eight reales of 1820, Mexico City mint. Tiny mark in obverse field, choice very fine.)"

The Mexico City mint continued to operate throughout the war of independence and did not fall into the hands of the rebels until the royalists' final surrender in 1821.
